Navodaya College of Nursing conducted an insightful session on “Self-Discovery and Human Values” for nursing students, focusing on the importance of values in personal growth and professional healthcare practice.
The session emphasized that technical knowledge alone is not enough in the medical field. Healthcare professionals must also cultivate compassion, emotional balance, gratitude, empathy, and a strong sense of purpose to provide truly patient-centered care.
Resource person Mr. S.V. Satyanarayana, a disciple of Swami Parthasarathy from Vedanta Institute, Visakhapatnam, shared valuable perspectives on essential human values such as freedom, love, happiness, selfless giving, and gratitude. The discussion encouraged students to reflect on their inner development and understand how self-awareness contributes to better decision-making, stronger relationships, and ethical professional conduct.
A key takeaway from the session was the growing importance of value education in nursing. In an increasingly technology-driven healthcare environment, qualities like empathy, humanity, integrity, and emotional resilience remain fundamental to building trust between healthcare professionals and patients.
The event witnessed active participation from B.Sc. Nursing and M.Sc. Nursing students along with faculty members, creating an engaging platform for reflection, learning, and personal development.
