Community Health Nursing combines the skills of nursing, public health and some phases of social assistance. It functions as a part of the total public health programmes for the promotion of health, the improvement of conditions in the social and physical environment, prevention of illness, disability and rehabilitation.

Functions & Activities

    Activities like participation in seminars, workshops, conferences, camps etc. are carried out by the department enabling the nursing students to gain knowledge in a community set up and field supervision. Curricular and extra-curricular activities are jointly held by the nursing department and the community health department of the hospital. Health education for clients and their families, conducting journal reviews, research guidance for undergraduates and post graduate students and celebration of World AIDS Day, TB Day, Tobacco Day and other important days are other activities of the department.

       Adoption of 5 Urban Slums and 5 Rural Villages.
