Poster Presentation on Occupational and Industrial Disorders

Poster Presentation on Occupational and Industrial Disorders was organized by the Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing, Navodaya School of Nursing, Raichur, on 12th November 2025 for the 4th Semester B.Sc. Nursing students. The academic activity aimed to strengthen students’ understanding of occupational health problems, industrial hazards, preventive strategies, and the critical role of nurses in ensuring workplace safety.

The Poster Presentation on Occupational and Industrial Disorders served as an interactive learning platform that encouraged students to explore real-world occupational health challenges and present evidence-based nursing interventions through visual communication.


Objectives of the Poster Presentation on Occupational and Industrial Disorders

The primary objectives of the Poster Presentation on Occupational and Industrial Disorders were:

  • To create awareness about occupational and industrial health hazards

  • To improve students’ knowledge of prevention and control measures

  • To enhance analytical thinking, teamwork, and presentation skills

  • To emphasize the nurse’s role in occupational health and safety


Student Participation and Organization

A total of 22 students actively participated in the Poster Presentation on Occupational and Industrial Disorders, forming 11 groups. Each group prepared creative, informative, and well-researched posters highlighting various aspects of occupational and industrial health issues.

The students demonstrated excellent teamwork, research skills, and clarity of concepts while explaining their posters to faculty members and peers.


Key Topics Covered in the Poster Presentation on Occupational and Industrial Disorders

The posters addressed several important themes, including:

Classification of Occupational Disorders

Students explained different types of occupational disorders and their causes, emphasizing early identification and prevention.

Occupational Hazards

Detailed posters highlighted:

  • Physical hazards

  • Biological hazards

  • Mechanical hazards

  • Chemical hazards

Occupational Respiratory Disorders

The impact of dust, fumes, and toxic gases on respiratory health was discussed with preventive nursing measures.

Lead Poisoning

Students presented the causes, symptoms, complications, and preventive strategies related to lead exposure.

Occupational Dermatitis and Computer Vision Syndrome

Posters focused on skin disorders and eye strain caused by prolonged exposure to workplace irritants and digital screens.

Psychological Problems at the Workplace

Mental health challenges such as stress, anxiety, and burnout were discussed along with coping strategies.

Levels of Prevention and the Nurse’s Role

The importance of primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention and the vital role of nurses in occupational health promotion were emphasized.


Educational Outcomes of the Poster Presentation on Occupational and Industrial Disorders

The Poster Presentation on Occupational and Industrial Disorders significantly enhanced students’ understanding of workplace health hazards and nursing responsibilities. It helped students:

  • Develop critical thinking and research skills

  • Improve communication and visual presentation abilities

  • Understand the importance of occupational health nursing

  • Gain confidence in explaining health concepts


Coordination and Guidance

The Poster Presentation on Occupational and Industrial Disorders was successfully coordinated and guided by Ms. K. L. Lavanya, Lecturer, Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing. Her guidance played a key role in motivating students and ensuring the academic success of the event.


Conclusion

Overall, the Poster Presentation on Occupational and Industrial Disorders was a meaningful academic activity that contributed to the holistic development of nursing students. The event reinforced the importance of occupational health awareness and strengthened the students’ readiness to address workplace health challenges as future nursing professionals.
