The Department of Medical Surgical Nursing offers comprehensive training to undergraduate and post graduate students based on the philosophy that students need to be well informed not only in knowledge and skills but also in the upcoming scientific advancements in different areas of clinical practice so as to enable them to face new challenges and opportunities in various innovative health care settings.

The Medical Surgical Nursing intends to develop the students ability to identify in depth the current concepts and trends, related to physiological, psychological, psycho-social and pathological aspects of medical surgical conditions and apply those concepts in the management of care through the nursing process framework.

Functions & Activities

In order to promote interactive cum participatory learning skills among students, group discussion, journal reviews, seminars and innovative methods of teaching are conducted. The department collaborates with other health disciplines to organize national events, workshop, seminars, symposiums etc. Counseling of weaker students and organizing tutorials based on students learning needs, research and guidance of postgraduate as well as undergraduate students on health-related issues, organizing in-service educational programmes and observational visits to reinforce and promote integrated learning are some of the activities conducted by the department.
